The Social Hand Up is an event that brings creatives, entrepreneurs, and community members together to provide support and exposure to causes in our city—all while having a good time. 

Whether you do your part through your business, your volunteer work, your art, or even shopping locally--when we give a hand up, it benefits all of us.

2015 Beneficiary

This year we’re supporting Wholesome Wave Georgia.  A nonprofit working to ensure all Georgians have access to fresh, local, healthy food.  A Wholesome Wave program we’ll be highlighting doubles food stamp benefits at farmers markets. In partnership with almost 40 different farmers markets in Atlanta and across Georgia, Wholesome Wave helps food stamp recipients while simultaneously fueling the local economy. 

Who Comes to The Social Hand Up?

The Social Hand Up Crowd 2014

Our crowd from our launch event in 2014 spanned across industries and included entrepreneurs, nonprofit professionals, artists, and professionals with the following key characteristics: Ages 25-50 years, in-town and urban, socially conscious, and motivated to action.


The party launched in 2014, and we focused on Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall’s Yo! Boulevard initiative. The event raised over $3000 to help Operation PEACE send children living in one of the toughest parts of our community to summer camp. We had 40 people in attendance and raised $1000 more from donations and sponsorships that came in after the event. 

2015 Goals

This year we expect 100 people and hope to raise $6000, which could feed 360 families or 1440 people for one week.
